What is the GQAL Level 2 National Certificate for
Personal Licence Holders?
Under the new Licensing Act 2003, anyone authorising the
retail sale of alcohol will have to hold a Personal Licence. To obtain a new Personal
Licence, applicants must hold a licensing qualification that is approved by both
the:
- Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA);

Department of Culture,
Media and Sport (DCMS).
The GQAL Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence
Holders is both QCA and DCMS approved and has been written and designed to a specification,
as laid down by the regulatory authorities. It meets all the statutory requirements
of the Licensing Act 2003.

for a Personal Licence to authorise the retail sale of alcohol on licensed premises.

Q How is the GQAL Level 2 National Certificate for Personal
Licence Holders assessed?
A. The qualification is awarded after passing a
multiple choice examination. On a normal working day qualification rules allow for
candidates to receive their results on the same day as the examination and to undertake
a free same day re-sit if the pass mark is not achieved. The examination consists
of 50 questions.
